Native American Library Services: Enhancement Grants

Enhancement Grants support projects to enhance existing library services or implement new services for libraries that serve Federally-recognized Native American tribes and Alaska Native communities. Libraries are eligible to apply for an Enhancement Grant only if they have applied for a Native American Library Services Basic Grant in the same fiscal year. Museum Assessment Program
Deadline: July 1, 2012; December 1, 2012
Supported through a cooperative agreement between IMLS and the American Association of Museums (AAM), the Museum Assessment Program (MAP) helps museums assess their strengths and weaknesses as they plan for the future. MAP grants provide three kinds of assessments: collections stewardship; organizational; and community engagement. Grant Amount/Period: varies/one year. Conservation Project Support

Conservation Project Support Grants help museums identify conservation needs and priorities, conduct surveys, fund conservation treatments, support continuing education opportunities for staff, and implement environmental improvements. Museums for America
Deadline: TBA 2012 (tentative date November 1, 2012)
Museums for America Grants are intended to strengthen a museum’s ability to serve the public and are designed to be flexible. Museums for America Grants are awarded in the following categories: engaging communities, including education, exhibitions, and interpretation; building institutional capacity, including strategic planning, policy development, and staff training; and collections stewardship, including documentation projects, disaster planning, long-range conservation planning, and other preservation activities. Conservation Assessment Program
Deadline: TBA 2012 (tentative date December 1, 2012)
The Conservation Assessment Program (CAP) assists small- to mid-sized museums by supporting general conservation assessments of museum collections, including storage and exhibition areas, environmental conditions, and collections care policies. Assessments are conducted by conservation professionals who spend two days on-site and three days writing a report. CAP reports can help museums develop strategies for improving collections care as well as providing a tool for long-range planning and fund-raising. The program is supported through a cooperative agreement between IMLS and Heritage Preservation. Grant Amount/Period: varies/once every 7 years. Some matching may be necessary.
